The O'Neill Manuscript

James O'Neill (1862 - 1949) was born in Kilpike, near Banbridge. He was taught the fiddle by his father John who was an excellent player. When James left Ulster for Chicago around 1881 he brought with him his father's collection of Irish music, including both printed collections and John's own handwritten manuscripts.

These five pieces of music, penned by James O'Neill in the period 1889 - 1902, are thought to be his own compositions.
